Ayudha Pooja and Saraswati Pooja is celebrated on Maha Navami of Navaratri. Navaratri is celebrated from September 24th to October 2nd, 2014. Vijayadasami is on October 3 (Friday).
Saraswathi Puja Celebration :
Goddess Saraswathi is the Goddess of Knowledge. On this day people will pray the books, musical instruments, machinery, tools that they use including computer, vehicles etc.
Special homam, abhishekam, puja and aarti will be held at temple. Purnahuti of Chandi Homam will take place on this day.
Golu in South India:
In South India, devotees will arrange dolls of God, Goddess in steps in their puja room during Navaratri, depicting various themes. This is called as Bommai 'Kolu' or 'Golu'
Friends, Relatives will be invited to see Golu. Daily Special Puja will be held and prasad, kumkum will be distributed to those coming to see Kolu.
Sundal made of Kondakadalai (Channa), Karamani, Pasiparuppu, Kadalai Paruppu, Groundnut and other pulses, appam, poori, puttu, sooji, halwa will be offered to God. Sundal is prepared by soaking the pulses in water, then cooking and roasting them
