Tanjavore, Aravakurichi polls scheduled to be held in May 2016 were postponed by EC because of money distribution complaints.

Thiruparangundram by-election was necessitated because of death of ADMK MLA.

Badrinath Temple Kapat Closing on November 16, 2016

Badrinath Temple Kapat will be closed on November 16, 2016 (Wednesday)

Badrinath Temple is situated at over 10,000 feet above sea level

During winter season, there will be heavy snowfall, hence Temple will be closed during Winter season

This year, on Nov 16th special puja will be held at 3.45 pm and then the Kapat will be closed

After the end of winter season, Kapat will be opened and devotees will be allowed to have Darshan

- Jamboo Savari is on October 11 (Tuesday). Goddess Chamundeshwari will bless devotees on Golden Howda atop Elephant in Mysore.

- Reception of Dasara Elephants. Nandidhwaja Puja from 2.16 pm to 4.30 pm IST. Start of Mysore Dasara Procession at 2.45 pm IST

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaih  and other Ministers, chief guests normally participate in the Jamboo Savari.

Torch Light Parade:

On October 11 (Tuesday) - 8 pm to 10 pm IST - Torch Light Parade will be held at Bannimantap Ground.

The Mysore Palace will be illuminated with nearly 1 lakh bulbs from 7 pm to 10 pm on all days of the festival.

Puja will done by scion of Mysore Royal Family, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar. In previous years, Darbar, Wrestling, Jamboo Savari were live telecast by the Sri Sankara TV.
